Step into the rich history and vibrant flavors of Nyeri Hill Estate, where coffee and community come together in perfect harmony. Established in 1914, this legendary farm in eastern Africa was among the first to plant coffee, and today it thrives along the lush, central highlands of Kenya.
With 344 hectares of their 1,415-hectare estate dedicated to coffee, Nyeri Hill’s 300 passionate employees work magic, harvesting three main coffee varietals—SL28, SL34, and Riuru 11. SL28, known for its drought tolerance and outstanding cup quality, and SL34, carefully selected from a single Kenyan tree, might be a little vulnerable to diseases, but that doesn’t stop them from packing serious flavor. Then there’s Riuru 11—a champion varietal making up over 18% of the estate’s yield—specially bred to resist coffee berry disease and leaf rust, all while keeping the coffee tasting as phenomenal as ever.
But Nyeri Hill isn’t just about brewing the perfect cup. Their heart is as big as their estate, with profits supporting education at Nyeri High School, professional training at Kamwenja Teachers College, and healthcare initiatives at Mathari Mission Hospital. They’re also all-in on sustainability, planting forests, preserving biodiversity, and caring for the land that makes their coffee so special.
Nyeri Hill Estate is where history meets innovation, where tradition fuels sustainability, and where every sip tells a story that’s bigger than coffee.
